Connecting caregiver placement agencies with their remote caregiver workforce

The Challenge

Finlabs was approached by CareConnect to help them conceive, design, and develop a solution to facilitate more efficient communication between care agencies and their remote caregiver workforce.

The Care industry relies on a remote workforce of care workers that are always on-the-go and constantly hustling to find more work. Generally, caregivers will work through agencies that manage and maintain the shifts to be assigned to them for work. With an ever-growing remote workforce to manage and a heavy influx of new and changing shifts, it is of high importance to the agencies that the communication lines between them and careworkers are as efficient as possible. This will allow them to staff and maintain, a shift far more effectively.

Setting up a Shadow Team

We worked directly with the stakeholders of the CareConnect project to craft and build a team dedicated to the task at hand outside of the noise and confusion of the parent company. This allowed us to limit groupthink and territorial behavior and deeply connect our engagement team to be on the same path with the same objectives and goals.

Definition & Rapid Creation Workshops

We worked directly with our client partners to unpack the problems and challenges that occur in this complex industry. By isolating out distinct critical aspects of the challenge we could ideate around solutions and design and prototype out micro solutions to test and validate.

MVP Design and Delivery

We set the target of designing and delivering a testable version of the CareConnect ecosystem within a 3 month period. This involved set up and delivery of a fully working scheduler web portal with all the communication hooks to fully functioning caregiver iOS and Android native apps. These "MVP" products were delivered on time and in a form that they could immediately be introduced to agencies looking to pilot the platform.

Ongoing Product Support & Evolution

Following the successful implementation in a few pilot agencies, we undertook ongoing testing and research to improve the product platform and extend it through the introduction of additional features and tools to improve the offering to the agencies and cover critical time-consuming tasks that commonly occur within all agencies.

  • Fully intergrated eco-system working seamlessly with Caregiver app
  • Planning and execution of a technical architecture that delivered required speed, loads, and scalability.
  • Ongoing product management and product roadmapping
  • Development of an extensive web application utilizing React Native
  • Development of complex search algorithms and extensive integrations into 3rd party platforms and data sources

The Results

CareConnect was launched into agencies immediately following MVP delivery and since has continued to grow and form a solid platform for itself within the health care placement industry. It has resulted in a fruitful and collaborative ongoing partnership between Finlabs and the CareConnect Team.
